The rivers of Destin include Blackwater, Yellow, and Shoal and are wonderful for canoeing, tubing and kayaking. Take a tour, or rent a boat and paddle the river at your own pace. Destin is known for its remarkable fishing opportunities. Due to its location by an offshore shelf into the Gulf of Mexico, there is always a diverse array of species of fish no matter the season. Destin is also home to the largest charter boat fleet in Florida, so you should have no problem finding a boat to take you out to a great fishing spot. While offshore fishing, you might catch a sailfish, Wahoo or blue marlin, yet inshore cobia and black fin tuna swim the waters. Red snapper and grouper are common bottom feeders to catch, while in the bay your catch might include a white trout, bluefish, or even blue crab. The freshwater rivers also offer some great fishing where bass and catfish are often the catch of the day, and the ponds in the state parks are always stocked as well!
